My first attempt at home recording was made using Audacity and a basic computer microphone.

I quickly upgraded to a condenser mic and a Blue Icicle inline digital audio interface.

Next the purchase of an Alesis iO2 interface introduced me to MIDI recording using Cakewalk for MSDOS software!

Cockos Reaper Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)

Around 2006 a colleague and gigging musician suggested that I investigate Cockos Reaper. I made that my DAW of choice although I also acquired Presonus Studio One bundled with the Studio24c interface.

Toontrack EZ Drummer and EZMix plugins along with some sampled instruments for Bass, Piano and Synth completes my workstation. I barely scratch the surface of Reaper's capabilities and use it in an amateurish manner.

Music Production Workflow
I'm now doing all my writing in Musescore, sometimes as guitar tab, sometimes traditional music notation. Having recorded and mixed (basically) in Cockos Reaper I publish to YouTube, Soundcloud, social media and this website. I haven't felt ready to publish much to-date.

Besides paper score I have used Mobile Sheets on a Samsung Tablet to perform from, however only once so far in a live open mic setting.

I've tried various video editing tools but settled upon using Cockos Reaper for this too with some assistance from Adobe Rush and MS Clipchamp. Adobe Express has recently been added to the toolset for producing images.
