This song reflected upon the two-sides of the coin of using social media apps / websites like Facebook, MySpace, Friends Reunited, LinkedIn etc
The thinking was that on one side they enable us to make or maintain contact with friends and families and have fun but on the other they consumed our time on banal trivia and even enabled peer pressure, bragging and bullying.

This was my first exploration of song writing. It was written when I was at the beginning of my singing development and when I was feeling massive imposter syndrome as both singer and songwriter.
Whilst Facebook was topical and occupying far too much of our time, at the office I was probably over-sharing about my new found singing adventures too. Office banter with my desk mate, Robert, led to the origins of the song. Also, we noted that IT professionals simply couldn’t decide if, when authenticating to a computer system, does the user Sign on, Sign In, Log on or Log In? Even worse was the mixed choice of Signing in and Logging Off!
So that debate drove the start of the chorus and led to the songs go to riff using the modulation across the root chord and suspended variants of the root.

D Dsus4 D Dsus2
Log in, log out, sign in, sign out
D Dsus4 D Dsus2
Log on, log off, sign on, sign off
Working with Olivia and Nikki the remainder of the chorus progression then evolved:
D Dsus4 D Dsus2
Log in, log out, sign in, sign out
D Dsus4 D Dsus2
Log on, log off, sign on, sign off
G A Bm
Maybe { they’ll } sign on again (they’ll, you’ll, we’ll, I’ll alternatives)
G A D Dsus2 D
Guess I’ll just sign on again
