Rainbows Fade was written in 2020 and reflects upon the first year of the Covid19 pandemic. Here in the UK people followed the lead from other countries and took to the streets to clap for health care workers and other key workers. They also displayed Rainbows in their windows to show supprt for the NHS (National Health Service). Time passed, people became weary and impatient and the rainbows faded in their windows.

This was my first attempt at writing a song other than with my acoustic guitar. My keyboard skills are modest but I wrote this at the piano and on a MIDI keyboard.  The piano part is mainly chords / arpeggios. The MIDI meanwhile part drives a Dexed Yamaha DX7 synth emulation. I also play guitar / bass guitar and used EZ Drummer  for the percussion.  Some bass parts were also emulated via MIDI.  The lyrics are written but I have not yet captured the vocals, so this is an instrumental version.

Spring 2024 and I'm now transcribing the amended song in Musescore 4. Once that is done I will move on to record the vocals via Cockos Reaper.  The key is F major, the tempo of the verses & chorus 78 bpm in 6/8 time, the bridge is 96 bpm in 4/4.
